The event starts from the client's location in Abha or Khamis Mushait in the Asir region, accompanied by a tour guide. The tour includes a visit to Wadi Tabab and an exploration of the historic Abu Nuqta Al-Mutahmi fortresses, which are distinguished by their unique architectural style and a location overlooking Wadi Tabab.
The tour also includes a visit inside the stone castles, and their cafes and shops.
The fortresses of the Abu Nuqta family in the historic village of Tabab.
The care of these castles began in 1418 AH in an initial phase aimed at preserving them from collapse and demolition, and the interest in them continued until 1441/12/27 AH, when the second phase of actual and serious restoration began and took about two years to be completed.
These fortresses consist of six palaces and forts with their annexes, and a rear courtyard that was once a threshing floor for harvesting grain. Inside, there are eight silos for storing barley and corn, which were also used at times to hide ammunition. The complex also includes forty-nine rooms of varying sizes and dimensions, in addition to an inner fortress showcasing the traditional architecture of Asir.
These fortresses were built by the ancestors and princes of the Al Abu Nuqta Al Mutahmi family and their descendants, may God have mercy on them, in the historic village of Al Hadn in Tabab, which was known as the first capital of the Asir region. These fortresses carried within their walls a deep historical, cultural, and civilizational dimension and great stories that reflect the status and role of the region, and they became a living witness to the history of Asir and a tourist destination that visitors go to in order to learn about the past of the region and its authentic heritage.
The fortresses of Al Abu Nuqta Al Mutahmi are not just silent stones, but a story of a civilization rooted in Asir, and an archaeological tourist landmark that takes the visitor on a journey between the ancient past and the bright present, as the history of Tab represents a great history for these fortresses and strongholds, which are twins of Diriyah since the first Saudi state.
