Al-Jawf: A tour of the most important landmarks and historical sites

We begin with Zaabal Castle. Zaabal Castle sits proudly on a mountaintop in Sakaka. It is a Nabataean fortress built with stone and mud more than two hundred years ago, with its four towers and its underground water reservoir.
Today the castle is transforming into a captivating tourist destination, combining the exploration of history with the enjoyment of a breathtaking panoramic view of Al-Jawf's nature.

Then we move on to the Al-Rajajil Column, where the Al-Rajajil Columns sit on a plateau south of Sakaka, one of the greatest archaeological mysteries in the Arabian Peninsula, with about 50 stone groups carved from sandstone that are thousands of years old.
The purpose of its construction remains a perplexing mystery—whether it was a temple, an astronomical observatory, or a boundary marker—making a visit to it a unique contemplative journey through the depths of human history.

Then we move on to Mard Castle. Mard Castle is one of the oldest archaeological landmarks in the Kingdom, dating back to the first and second centuries AD, and is located on a hill in Dumat al-Jandal, adjacent to the Mosque of Omar Ibn al-Khattab.

The Mosque of Omar Ibn Al-Khattab, which is considered one of the most prominent Islamic landmarks in the Kingdom, was built in the year 16 AH by order of Caliph Omar Ibn Al-Khattab, and is located in Dumat Al-Jandal, adjacent to the Mard Castle.
It is distinguished by its square pyramidal minaret, which is about 12.7 meters high, and has maintained its original form despite repeated restorations throughout the ages.
